Aaron and his younger sister, Hayley, became the first american siblings to medal at the same World Championships. Aaron won the gold in the 100m backstroke and Hayley won the silver in the 1500m freestyle at 2003 Worlds

Aaron earned 2003 NCAA Swimmer of the Year honors in his freshman year at Texas. In the same year, he was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year
